Itinerary
Day
1
Assemble for 0924 departure on Eurostar and coach via Paris, arriving Beaune late afternoon. Transfer to Hotel de la Poste, Beaune, for four nights. Welcome and introduction.
Day
2
Morning orientation tour of Beaune, including Hotel Dieu (founded 1443 by Nicolas Rolin and the site of van der Weyden’s Last Judgement) and Musée du Vin de Bourgogne. Afternoon: visit to La Moutarderie Fallot (mustard mill) including tasting, followed by some free time. Evening lecture followed by performance featuring Choeur de Namur and Orchestre le Cercle de l’Harmonie directed by Jérémie Rhorer: Mozart Die Zauberflöte.
Day
3
Morning lecture followed by wine tasting and lunch at La Table du Comte Senard (including wine cellar). Afternoon: guided tour of Clos du Vougeot. Some free time and independent dinner followed by evening performance featuring Orchestre les Epopées directed by Stéphane Fuget: Monteverdi Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria.

4
Morning lecture followed by an excursion to Autun (Musée Rolin, Cathedral St Lazare). Evening performance featuring Mari Eriksmoen (soprano): operatic arias by Handel and Mozart.

5
Coach transfer to Paris followed by departure on Eurostar, arriving St Pancras 1739.

FITNESS/PRACTICALITIES
This tour is not expected to be especially strenuous, however participants should be prepared to traverse uneven pavements and cobbles, as well as walk for between one and two hours. The performances all begin at 2100 and will be balanced by later, leisurely mornings.
