Depart London Heathrow 0810, arriving Athens 1345. Transfer to Hotel Herodion for two nights. Introductory talk.

Morning: National Archaeological Museum. Depart for Nafplion visiting ancient Corinth (forum, Temple of Apollo, Archaeological Museum, South Stoa) en route. Transfer to Hotel Amalia Nafplio for three nights.
Epidaurus (theatre with its remarkable acoustics, sanctuary of Asklepios). Return to Nafplion for walking tour of the town and optional visit to Palamidi fortress (time permitting). Evening talk: Heroes of the Greeks.
Visit to Tiryns (Mycenaean fortress with cyclopean walls) followed by Argos (agora, bath complex, theatre). Continue to ancient Mycenae: Lion Gate, grave circle, palace megaron, Treasury of Atreus. Evening talk: Heroes of the Greeks.
Mystras: fortress, Palace of Despots, beautifully situated churches with 14th and 15th century frescoes. Continue to Pylos for two nights at Hotel Philip.
Nestor’s Palace, Pylos and Ottoman Neokastro fortress (dramatic views over Navarino Bay). Afternoon at leisure in Pylos. Evening talk: Athens v Sparta.
Messini (magnificent circuit of 4th century BC walls, sanctuary of Asklepios and stadium) then continue to Olympia for two nights at Hotel Olympion Asty. Evening talk: Panhellenic Games.
Ancient Olympia (home of the Olympic Games): Palaestra, Temple of Zeus, Temple of Hera, stadium, Archaeological Museum of Olympia. Evening talk: Oracles of the Greeks.
Via Rio-Antirrio bridge to Delphi. Medieval port of Nafpaktos (Lepanto) and visits in Delphi: temples of Athena and Apollo, gymnasium, theatre and Archaeological Museum of Delphi. Overnight stay at Hotel Amalia Delphi.
Via Orchomenus and the Lion of Chaeronea to Athens. Depart Athens 1445, arriving London Heathrow 1635.
