Depart London Gatwick 1420 on British Airways, arriving Faro 1705. Transfer to Hotel Toruño, El Rocío, for seven nights.
Morning walk to Arroyo de la Rocina (dry land habitat with azure-winged magpie, hoopoe, egrets, warblers, red deer, wild boar, Egyptian mongoose). Free afternoon. Evening lecture: Introduction to the Coto Doñana.
Whole day excursion to the northern part of the Coto Doñana National Park.
Whole day excursion to Seville: Cathedral and Alcázar (fine 14th century Mudéjar work). Celebratory lunch at a typical Andalucían restaurant followed by some free time. Evening: traditional flamenco performance. Optional midnight service at Our Lady of Rocío Church.
Boca del Lobo (chance to see Spanish imperial eagle). Afternoon walk in El Rocío area and birdwatching across huge lagoons of ‘Marismas del Rocío’ (flamingo flocks, storks, stilts, ibis, purple gallinule, kites and harriers). Celebratory Christmas dinner.
Morning visits to Parque Dunar and El Acebuche Visitors’ Centre (restored hacienda, lynx reintroduction programme, black-shouldered kite, southern grey shrike). Afternoon: Dehesa de Abajo (privately owned nature reserve on edge of National Park, run by one of the region’s top ecologists).
Morning: Odiel Marshes Natural Park (wetland reserve with osprey, terns, spoonbills and thousands of waders). Continue to Huelva: Columbus statue and Harbour of the Caravels.
Some free time. Transfer to Faro for 1755 departure, arriving Gatwick 2045.

ACE customer on previous tour to The Coto Doñana & Seville at Christmas with Kevin Hand
While this tour is not expected to be especially strenuous, participants should meet our usual fitness requirements. Most walks will be flat, with sometimes rugged or uneven terrain, and the Tour Director will offer shorter alternatives if required. Participants should also be prepared for urban walking in Seville.
Cost of £2145 includes: return airfare, accommodation based on sharing a twin or double bedded room, traditional flamenco performance, breakfast, four lunches (one packed and one light), dinner (one light on day 4) with wine, water & coffee, excursions & admissions, gratuities.
