• Learn about the life and work of Felix Mendelssohn, who made an unforgettable visit to Scotland in the summer of 1829
• Join the annual celebration of the composer’s work on the Isle of Mull
• Become immersed in the breath-taking landscapes that inspired the composer
Operatic baritone, director and lecturer
Tour assembles 1600 at Dakota, Glasgow, for overnight stay. Welcome and introduction to the tour, including private recital (subject to confirmation).
Depart Glasgow through stunning Highland scenery and past Loch Lomond for the Isle of Mull, via ferry from Oban. Transfer to Western Isles Hotel, Tobermory, for three nights. Evening festival concert.
Whole day excursion to Iona for visit to the abbey founded by St Columba (including festival concert) and boat trip to Fingal’s Cave (weather permitting) on the uninhabited island of Staffa (the inspiration for Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture).
Excursion to Duart Castle (overlooking the Sound of Mull). Evening festival concert.
Depart Tobermory via ferry to Oban. Afternoon distillery visit and optional walk up to McCaig’s Tower, followed by festival concert at Oban Cathedral. Overnight at the Perle Hotel, Oban.
Depart Oban for Glasgow via Inveraray Castle. Overnight at Hotel Dakota, Glasgow.
Tour disperses after breakfast.

FITNESS / PRACTICALITIES
This tour involves a moderate amount of walking, including over uneven, steep and potentially slippery surfaces, and up and down steps. Participants should be prepared for journeys by boat and ferry (weather permitting) that can be choppy. This tour also involves a significant amount of travel by coach.

Cost of £1745 includes: accommodation based on sharing a twin or double bedded room (double bedded rooms only in Glasgow), four performances (subject to final programme details) & donation to the festival, breakfast, two lunches (one packed), dinner with water & coffee, excursions & admissions, gratuities.
Not included: travel insurance, double room for single use supplement £390.
