British Airways flight from London Heathrow to Berlin. Continue to Maritim proArte Hotel Berlin for six nights. Welcome and introduction. Evening concert at the Philharmonie featuring the Staatskapelle Berlin with Daniel Barenboim (conductor & piano) and Martha Argerich (piano): Mozart Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra in E flat, K 365; Wagner orchestral interludes from Tannhäuser, Götterdämmerung and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg.
Coach orientation and guided architectural tour (exteriors): Potsdamer Platz, Checkpoint Charlie, Friedrichstrasse, Nikolaiviertel, Unter den Linden, New Parliament buildings, Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag. Free afternoon and evening.
Morning lecture followed by guided visit to the Alte Nationalgalerie and free time to explore further museums on Museum Island. Evening concert at the Komische Oper featuring the Orchestra of the Komische Oper Berlin with İbrahim Yazıcı (conductor / piano) and Fazıl Say (piano): Mozart Piano Concertos No 1 in F, K 37, and No 12 in A, K 414; Fazıl Say Istanbul Symphony.
Morning lecture followed by some free time. Afternoon guided tour of the Musical Instrument Museum, followed by piano recital at the Philharmonie featuring Daniel Barenboim and Martha Argerich: Mozart piano works for four hands.
Excursion to Grunewald Hunting Lodge for guided tour. Some free time. Evening performance at Berlin State Opera: Mozart The Marriage of Figaro.
Morning lecture followed by visit to the Deutsches Historisches Museum. Late afternoon performance at Berlin State Opera: Wagner Parsifal.
Free morning (subject to flight times) followed by return flight from Berlin to Heathrow.

FITNESS / PRACTICALITIES
Please note that while this tour will not be particularly strenuous, participants should have a good level of general fitness and be comfortable exploring Berlin on foot. Some visits will involve traversing uneven ground.
