Imogen Corrigan explores the life and legacy of Benedict Biscop, the Anglo-Saxon abbot who founded Monkwearmouth-Jarrow Priory. Granted land in 674 by Ecgfrith of Northumbria, Benedict's aim was to establish a monastery through which he could share his experience and knowledge of the Church in Europe, an endeavour which included the founding of a library in which Bede wrote his famous works.
