Depart London Heathrow 1240 on British Airways, arriving Vienna 1605. Transfer to Hotel Mailbergerhof, Vienna, for five nights.
Morning lecture followed by orientation walk of Vienna: Lobkowitz Palace (home to the Eroica-Saal, where Beethoven’s 3rd symphony was first performed), Imperial Crypt (Habsburg tombs) and Augustinerkirche (official church of the Hofburg). Free time followed by evening performance at Vienna State Opera: Puccini La bohème.
Morning lecture followed by excursion to the Beethoven Museum, Heilingenstadt. Free time followed by late afternoon visit to Vienna Naschmarkt and evening performance at the Theater an der Wien: Salieri Tarare.
Morning lecture. Option to attend High Mass at the Augustinerkirche (where Anton Bruckner conducted the first performance of his Mass in F minor) followed by a visit to the Kunsthistoriches Museum. Free time followed by evening performance at the Volksoper: Richard Heuberger Der Opernball.
Morning: Haus der Musik (Mahler room) and guided tour of the Musikverein. Free afternoon with option to visit the Upper Belvedere Palace (world’s largest collection of works by Klimt). Evening performance at the Musikverein: Mahler Symphony No 2 (‘Resurrection Symphony’).
Some free time. Depart Vienna 1340 on British Airways, arriving London Heathrow 1515.
