Depart London Heathrow 0825 on British Airways, arriving Pisa 1135. Transfer to Lucca for five nights at Albergo Celide. Welcome and introductory lecture.
Morning: Romanesque Cathedral of San Martino (where Puccini played the organ; Tintoretto’s Last Supper) and museum, followed by Church of San Giovanni. Afternoon visit to Giacomo Puccini Museum. Late afternoon lecture followed by evening festival opera in Torre del Lago: Le Villi.
Museo Nazionale (housed in 15th century Villa Guinigi). Afternoon: free time followed by lecture. Evening festival opera in Torre del Lago: Turandot.
Morning: Palazzo Pfanner, Basilica di San Frediano and Piazza dell’Anfiteatro. Afternoon lecture followed by visit to Villa Museo Puccini. Evening festival opera: Tosca.
Morning excursion to gardens of Villa Reale di Marlia followed by Celle dei Puccini, including Puccini family home museum (where Puccini spent his childhood summers). Free afternoon.
Depart Pisa 1240, arriving London Heathrow 1405.
