Depart London Heathrow 1035 on Scandinavian Airlines, arriving Stockholm 1405. Transfer to Victory Hotel for four nights. Welcome and introduction.
Morning lecture: Stockholm – City of a Thousand Islands followed by walking tour of the Old Town and Riddarholmen including visits to Riddarholmen Church and Riddarhuset (House of Nobility). Afternoon: guided tour of Swedish Royal Opera House followed by evening performance: Don Giovanni.
Morning lecture: Art, Style & Design in Stockholm’s Royal Palaces followed by ferry to Djurgården for Vasa Museum (housing world’s oldest warship) and Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde (art museum). Free afternoon and evening.
Visit to Stockholm Cathedral followed by excursion by boat to Drottningholm Palace complex, including palace, Versailles-style formal gardens, well-preserved 18th century theatre and Chinese Pavilion. Smörgåsbord dinner at the Grand Hotel’s Veranda restaurant (fabulous views over Stockholm’s harbour).
Morning: Stockholm City Hall followed by Gustav III’s Pavilion in Haga Royal National City Park. Depart Stockholm 1615, arriving Heathrow 1750.
