Itinerary

Day

1

Transfer via Eurostar from London to Paris. By coach to Honfleur to board MS Renoir. Welcome drink and Tour Director introductions.

Day

2

Morning: private visit to Musée Eugène-Boudin (charming galleries showcasing works by Boudin and other local artists) and walking tour of Honfleur (picturesque old harbour, subject of works by Boudin, Monet and Courbet). Afternoon excursion to Bayeux (Tapestry Museum and town). Evening piano recital.

3

Morning: Norman Abbeys trail including Saint Wandrille (exterior visit; ancient foundations with unique 7th century chapel) and Jumièges (described by Victor Hugo as “the most beautiful ruins in all of France”). Afternoon lectures and piano recital as MS Renoir cruises to Rouen: French Impressionism.

4

Morning: walking tour of Rouen Old Town (including Notre Dame Cathedral and Great Clock) and visit to Musée des Beaux-Arts (founded by Napoleon I in 1801; collections include works by Rubens, Caravaggio, Pissaro, Degas, Monet). Afternoon excursion to Abbaye Sainte-Georges (stunning Romanesque architecture) followed by evening piano recital.

5

Morning visit to Monet’s Garden at Giverny (Clos Normand flower garden and Japanese inspired water garden). Afternoon lectures and piano recital as MS Renoir cruises to Paris.

6

Whole day in Paris including Musée Marmottan Monet (Monet, Degas, Manet, Renoir) and Musée d’Orsay (the largest collection of Impressionist ad post-Impressionist masterpieces in the world including works by Cézanne and van Gogh) with free time to explore the city. Gala dinner on board MS Renoir.

7

Morning visit to Picasso Museum (substantial collection with additional works by Cézanne, Degas, Rousseau and Matisse) followed by Eurostar transfer to London where tour disperses.
