Itinerary

Day

1

Tour assembles 0930 at Strand Palace Hotel for overnight stay at the Strand Palace Hotel, London. Morning lecture: Welcome to Hogarth – His Life & Times, followed by guided tour of the Foundling Museum (Hogarth and his wife Jane were heavily involved with the Foundling Hospital, overseeing foundling children and donating works of art) and an excursion to Chiswick for Hogarth’s House (artist’s home 1749-1764). Free evening.

Day

2

Morning: private visit to Sir John Soane’s Museum (Two major Hogarth series A Rake’s Progress and The Humours of an Election) with lecture, followed by guided tour of the National Gallery (Hogarth’s Marriage A-la-Mode series). Afternoon: guided tour of the National Portrait Gallery (selection of Hogarth’s self portraits). Tour disperses 1630 at the National Portrait Gallery followed by hotel.
