Depart London Stansted 1205 on Ryanair, arriving Dinard 1420. Transfer to Hotel Celtique, Carnac, for four nights.
Morning lecture: Neolithic Brittany followed by Locmariaquer for Table des Marchands passage grave, the Grand Menhir Brisé, Er Grah tumulus and Les Pierres Plates. Afternoon: by ferry to Gavrinis to see tumulus of Gavrinis and Er Lannic stone circle.
Morning lecture: Gauguin & the Pont-Aven School followed by Pont-Aven for 16th century Trémalo Chapel (inspiration for Gauguin’s Yellow Christ) and Musée de Pont-Aven. Afternoon: seaside village of Le Pouldu (painted by Gauguin) and the Maison Marie Henry (also painted by the Pont Aven group – visit subject to confirmation).
Morning: Musée de Préhistoire at Carnac. Afternoon: Le Ménec, Kercardo passage grave, Manio giant and quadrilateral, St Michel tumulus.
Excursion to Quimper for Cathedral of St Corentin, Musée des Beaux-Arts (works by Pont-Aven painters and others) and Musée Departemental Breton. Transfer to Morlaix for three nights at Hotel de l’Europe.
Morning: Breton Counter-Reformation churches including Saint-Thégonnec, Guimiliau and Sizun followed by La Roche-Maurice (exterior). Afternoon: Cairn de Barnénez.
Morning: walking tour of Morlaix old town including Maison de la Reine Anne. Free afternoon.
Depart Dinard 1445, arriving Stansted 1455.
